Exhibition, Part 8 - A Trip to the Rings

Today was the last day of the art exhibition at church - I took down my drawings right after the service. Here's my 8th and final entry into the show. I initially drew it to fill a long, skinny, 5-hole frame.

Exhibition, Part 7 - Little Octopus

The exhibition in the church gallery ends this Sunday, so I need to post the last 2 pictures that were in the show. (Also, I spent most of the evening unsuccessfully trying to get my mom's Blu-Ray player to connect with her home wifi network - ugh!) Anyway, this picture was my sister's Christmas present from 2011.

Exhibition, Part 6 - Moonlight Bay

Picture 6 of 8 in the First Pres exhibition series. The exhibition ends next Sunday, so if you were planning on seeing it in person, you'd better hurry up (assuming, of course, that any real people actually see this - if you're real, leave me a comment, especially if you have any topics you'd like me to try drawing or writing about.) Anyway, this is an 8 x 10 inch pencil sketch I did back in 2008, trying out different hardnesses of leads.

Exhibition, Part 5 - Sloths

Tonight I've been working on a fairly detailed landscape. It's 11:24 PM, it's nowhere near done yet and I don't want to rush it and mess it up. (I'll mess it up at a leisurely pace tomorrow!)

So, here's the 5th drawing (of 8) that's currently being exhibited in our church art gallery. This one was a Christmas present for my sister last year.

Exhibition, Part 4 - Burrow Owl

I drew this one a few years ago, intending to give it to my sister as a Christmas present, but it ended up looking a little too intense. Instead I kept it for myself. In case you're wondering about the background, it's supposed to be a slope covered in rocks and dirt, not a raging snowstorm. Everybody knows the burrow owl lives in a hole in the ground.

Exhibition, Part 3 - Dreaming of Home

So today was the big opening for the art show. I had some nice compliments, but more than one were more along the lines of "Wow, who knew you had that kind of talent?" Anyway, here's one of my favorite drawings from a few years ago that I included in the show.

Here's my second entry into the art show. I drew this one as a Christmas present for my niece this year - I hope she doesn't mind that I took it back for a couple months to put on display.

Exhibition, Part 1 - Terra Nova

Today I handed over 8 of my drawings for exhibition in our church's 42nd Parish Art Show. It's pretty exciting. I'll post scans over the next few days. Here's the first. It's a sketch I did about a week ago, based on a 1911 photo from the ill-fated Scott expedition to the Antarctic showing the ship Terra Nova in the distance through the mouth of an ice cave.
